The Key Laboratory of Animal Nutrition and Feed Science of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (comprehensive) was established in 1990 on the basis of the "Key Open Laboratory of Animal Nutrition and Metabolism of the Ministry of Agriculture" and approved by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs in 2011. The laboratory implements the development concept of "innovation, coordination, green, openness and sharing", organizes, directs and leads the development planning, evaluation and daily operation management of the laboratory system of the discipline cluster, focuses on solving major scientific and technological problems of basic, directional, global and critical nature in the development of feed industry and breeding industry, and establishes a shared high-end research platform, a special platform for key research and a talent platform for the discipline cluster.

There are one academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, six chief scientists of the National Key Research and Development Program, one recipient of the National Outstanding Young Scientist Fund, four national high-level talents, two national young and middle-aged experts with outstanding contributions, one recipient of the National Outstanding Young Scientist Fund, one "Young and Middle-aged Science and Technology Leader" of the Ministry of Science and Technology, three recipients of the National Special Allowance, four post scientists of the National Modern Agricultural Industry System, and three national agricultural outstanding talents and innovation teams.

"During the 13th Five-Year Plan period, the laboratory focused on animal nutrition metabolism and regulation, quality nutrition, precise nutrition and healthy breeding, feed quality and safety, feed nutrient biological potency assessment and database maintenance and update, etc. The laboratory won 11 awards, including 3 National Science and Technology Progress Second Prize, and hosted national science and technology projects. More than 70 projects. The "Yihe Forum" sponsored by the laboratory has generated a warm response in the industry, and the "Yihe Youth Award" has helped the growth of young talents in the industry.
