The National Changping Comprehensive Agricultural Engineering and Technology Research Center (Livestock and Poultry Sub-Center) is located in Machikou Town, Changping District, Beijing, covering an area of 288 mu, and was established in 1984 as the first experimental demonstration base of the Institute of Animal Science.
The center has built various experimental sites, including the National Key Laboratory of Livestock and Poultry Nutrition and Feeding, the National Beijing Oil Chicken Breeding Farm, the National Beijing Duck Breeding Farm, etc. It mainly carries out research work on key technologies and new breeding systems for poultry breeding, the construction of a whole gene selection platform for pigs and breeding applications, key regulation technologies for livestock and poultry nutrition, nutrition metabolism and regulation of ruminants, and forage cultivation, etc. It has formed a comprehensive experimental base integrating "regulation of breeding and reproduction, nutrition metabolism, environmental simulation, and technology demonstration", and is the core platform for livestock science and technology innovation and industrial technology promotion of the Institute of Animal Science.
The center has fully guaranteed the breeding work of Beijing oil chicken and Peking duck, promoted the localization and marketization of livestock and poultry breeds, played a supporting role in the implementation and breakthrough of many major scientific research projects, and is the core platform for scientific and technological innovation and industrial technology promotion in China's livestock industry.
In recent years, the center has won three national scientific and technological progress awards, bred eight new breeding lines, and published more than 70 SCI-indexes papers.
