The State Key Laboratory of Animal Nutrition and Feeding was reorganized in August 2022 on the basis of the State Key Laboratory of Animal Nutrition, relying on the Institute of Animal Science, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and China Agricultural University. The original laboratory was approved for construction by the Ministry of Science and Technology in March 2005 and passed the acceptance in September 2009.
The laboratory focuses on the scientific issues of "synergistic and efficient transformation mechanism of dietary nutrients, nutritional metabolism of livestock and poultry precision feeding, and regulatory mechanism of livestock and poultry product quality formation", and conducts key research on livestock and poultry nutritional metabolism and regulation, biological basis of efficient nutrient utilization, creation of active substances for feeding, livestock and poultry product quality control and livestock and poultry precision feeding.
The laboratory owns 119 official researchers, including 19 national academic backbones such as National Outstanding Youth Fund, Changjiang Scholar, National Excellent Youth Fund and Ten Thousand People Plan, and 15 national innovation teams, with reasonable structure of talent team in the age and profession.
The laboratory has undertaken 19 of major projects such as National 973, 863, Key R&D Program, 9 of key projects of National Natural Science Foundation of China, 1 of major project, 4 of national outstanding youth fund, 4 of national excellent youth fund and 70 other major national projects. The laboratory has achieved outstanding achievement in "producing results, talents and contributions", with 316 of national invention patents, 32 of national and industrial standards, 12 of national awards, 37 of provincial and ministerial first-class awards and trained 3 academicians and 19 national talents, which leads the development of animal nutrition and feeding disciplines, and promotes interdisciplinary innovation.
