The team has 10 official researchers and hosts over 20 projects at provincial and ministerial level. The team completed the genome assembly annotation at the homologous chromosome level of alfalfa “Zhongclover 4”, discovered more than 200 molecular markers associated with important traits in alfalfa and developed the first domestic alfalfa breeding chip and cloned and identified more than 50 genes regulating traits such as salt tolerance in alfalfa. The team has bred 8 new varieties of alfalfa in the China clover series, with a total promoted planting area of more than 30 million mu, which is the largest promoted planting area of domestic alfalfa series in China, and developed 3 efficient supporting planting technologies for alfalfa. The team has published more than 380 papers, edited and co-edited 32 books, received 38 invention patents, won 11 provincial and ministerial awards, including 2 first-class awards and 6 second-class awards, and trained more than 50 master and doctoral students.
