The meat sheep genetic breeding science and technology innovation team was selected as one of the “National Outstanding Talents in Agricultural Research and Innovation Teams” in 2015. The team has own 3 researchers, 1 associate researcher, 2 assistant researchers and 1 postdoctoral fellow. The team is dedicated to research on the molecular mechanism of multiple lambing and perennial estrus formation in meat sheep, evaluation and utilization of meat sheep germplasm resources, and selection and breeding of new breeds of highly fertile meat sheep. The team achieved a breakthrough in the accurate determination of sheep reproductive physiological phenotypes, analyzed the molecular mechanism of multiple lambs and perennial estrus formation in meat sheep, and jointly bred three new breeds of high-breeding meat sheep suitable for intensive breeding in agricultural areas in northern China. They have published more than 650 papers and have been granted 20 patents.
