Chicken genetic breeding science and technology innovation team is the national broiler industry system industry technology research and development center relying on the construction team. They are selected as an innovation team in key areas of the Ministry of Science and Technology’s Innovative Talent Promotion Plan in 2018 and are awarded the Shennong Chinese Agricultural Science and Technology Award for Outstanding Innovation Team in 2019. The team focuses on industrial needs such as high quality, grain saving and disease resistance, and carries out systematic theoretical and basic research, key breeding technology innovation and new variety breeding work. They have made outstanding achievements in the precise analysis of meat quality and disease resistance traits, genomic breeding technology and breeding of new broiler breeds, and have bred 7 new broiler breeds (mating lines) such as Jingxing Yellow Chicken Series and Guangming No. 2. The team won 6 scientific and technological awards above the first prize at the provincial level, including the second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award for “Breeding and application of new breeds of grain-saving, high-quality, disease-resistant yellow-finned broiler”. They have published more than 150 papers, received more than 20 authorized invention patents, published 12 monographs and formulated 5 standards.
