The “Li Yuan Oil Egg Chicken” is a matching system that makes full use of the advantages of the local breed Beijing oil egg, excellent meat quality and unique “three-hair” appearance, and introduces the bloodline of high-yielding hens appropriately. After years of breeding and crossbreeding of this breed, a number of high-quality lines have been formed and a three-line combination has been selected through compatibility determination with the synthetic dwarf strain D line as the terminal parent, the high-yielding oil chicken pure line Y line as the first parent, and the synthetic high-yielding oil chicken strain A line as the first parent. The “Li Yuan Oil Egg Chicken” passed the validation of the National Livestock and Poultry Genetic Resources Committee in August 2016 and obtained the certificate of new livestock and poultry breed (supporting line) with the number of (Nong 09) New Breed Certificate No. 70.

The “Li Yuan Oil Egg Chicken” matching line of commercial generation can distinguish between male and female by fast and slow plumage, with an accuracy rate of over 99%. Hens as the dwarf type owns the capacities of 1.65 kg of adult weight, 96.0%~97.5% and 93.0%~94.9% of survival rate, respectively, during brooding and egg laying period, laying egg at 153~162 days old, eggshell pink, 225~242 eggs laid at 72 weeks old, 50~52 g of average egg weight, 2.72:1~2.80:1 of feed to egg ratio during egg laying. The “Beijing Oil Chicken New Breed Breeding and Industrial Upgrading Key Technology R&D Application”, with the “Liyuan Oil Egg Chicken” mating line as the main innovation, won the first prize of the 2019 Beijing Science and Technology Progress Award.
