Variety Profile:

China Simmental is a new variety of both milk and meat approved by the National Livestock Breed Validation Committee in 2001, and won the second prize of National Science and Technology Progress in 2003. Chinese Simmental cattle are dairy and meat type, with characters of fast growth and development, rough feeding tolerance and strong adaptability. Breeding bulls weigh up to 1100-1200 kg and breeding females weigh up to 550-650 kg, respectively. Crossbred improved cows fattened with intensity own the capacities of 573 kg of weight at 22 months of age, 61% of slaughter rate, 50% of net meat rate. The average milk yield of females exceed 4300 kg with 4.03% of milk fat rate. It is suitable for promotion in the northeast, central plains, northwest and southwest regions of China.
