Animal Biotechnology and Reproduction Research Laboratory is based on the international frontier of pig genetic engineering and germplasm innovation by using genetic engineering technology, embryo engineering and reproduction technology as technical means to carry out theoretical and technological innovation from pig agricultural applications and medical models, animal embryo development mechanism and reproduction regulation technology, etc.，establishes original pig genetic engineering research methods, leads the direction of pig genetic engineering research, breeds breakthrough pig agricultural and medical specialized strains, and occupies the international strategic high ground of pig genetic engineering to ensure the breeding industry and food safety and serve human health. Since the establishment of the Institute, the laboratory realized the first artificial insemination of horses, the first frozen embryo transfer for sheep and pigs in China, successfully bred the original and innovative inbred lines for experimental use in Wuzhishan mini-pigs, created a number of new genetically modified pig breeding materials with important application value, and the innovative new technology of large-scale and efficient preparation of genetically modified pigs reached the international leading level. The main research directions are genetic engineering technology innovation and target gene development, genetically engineered pig creation, evaluation and breeding of new breeds (lines) for agricultural use, genetically engineered pig creation, evaluation and breeding of specialized lines for medical use, in vivo embryo development and production technology for livestock and in vitro embryo production and development mechanism for livestock.
