The Animal Products Quality and Safety Research Laboratory aims to provide quality livestock products that meet people’s needs for a better life, targeting the frontiers of livestock products quality and risk assessment, focusing on solving the overall, critical, directional and basic major scientific and technological problems in China’s dairy industry and quality and safety of livestock products, and investigating the formation mechanism of important quality of milk and meat, risk assessment technology of milk and meat quality, research and development of livestock and poultry nutritional fortification and functional products, deep processing of beef and other applied basic research to reveal the physiological basis of livestock products quality differences, build a livestock products quality and safety risk assessment system and develop a series of functional animal products. Since the establishment of the institute, the research laboratory has carried out national quality and safety monitoring of raw milk and quality and safety risk assessment of the dairy industry, established a national dairy science and technology innovation alliance, and implemented a high-quality milk project. The work has be recognized at home and abroad in the fields, including CLA milk, selenium-enriched pork, OMEGA-3 enriched eggs and folic acid eggs, as well as beef grading and deep processing. The main research directions include the metabolic regulation mechanism of milk quality, high throughput detection technology of the main factors of milk quality and safety, safety risk assessment and nutritional function mining of livestock products, meat grading and deep processing and functional livestock products development.
