Acta Veterinaria et Zootechnica Sinica (Chinese Journal of Animal and Veterinary Sciences, CJAVS) is one of the earliest scholarly journals in animal and veterinary sciences of China (first published in 1956). The CJAVS (now published monthly), is supervised by the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), sponsored by Chinese Association of Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine (CAAV), and is edited by the Editorial Committee of CJAVS and Institute of Animal Science, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (IAS-CAAS).
CJAVS aims to publish the most innovative, breakthrough, and representative scientific research findings in Chinese animal husbandry and veterinary academic and industry field and has earned its reputation by presenting high-level papers, reports and achievements in both Chinese and English. It covers a range of topics such as animal breeding, animal biotechnology and reproduction, animal nutrition and feed, and animal diseases. Its readers include scientists, teachers, students and managers working in the fields of animal husbandry, veterinary sciences and biology.
CJAVS has been indexed in several well-known domestic and international databases and abstracting services. It has been selected as the core journal by Peking University Library for eight consecutive times (1992-2017), and now ranks first in the list of “animal husbandry, animal medicine, hunting, silkworm and bee” core journals in the Outline of Chinese Core Journals. CJAVS is also selected as “The key magazine of China technology”, a source journal of the core database (C) of China Science Citation Database (CSCD), and “Chinese high-quality scientific and technological journals”. It is indexed by CA (American Chemical Abstracts), CABI (British International Center for Agricultural and Biological Sciences Research Database), ZR (British Zoology Record), JST (Japanese Japan Science and Technology Agency Chinese Literature Database), Ulrich's PD (Ulrich's Periodicals Directory), DOAJ (Swedish Open access Journal Guide), and CSA (American Cambridge Scientific Abstracts).
