Recently, a symposium on the progress of the China-Ireland Dairy Sustainable Development Center was held at Institute of Animal Science (IAS), Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) in Beijing. Ms. Alicja Migowska-Calik, Agricultural Counsellor of the Embassy of Ireland in China, and Ms. Camila He, Agricultural Attaché; Professor Frank Monahan, Dean of the School of Agriculture and Food Science at University College Dublin (UCD); Mr. Dong Yiwei, Director of the International Education Division at the Graduate School of CAAS; and Professor Jiang Lin, Assistant Director of IAS, attended the symposium. The symposium was chaired by Professor Bu Dengpan, Chief Scientist of the Ruminant Nutrition Research Team at IAS.

During the meeting, the two sides held in-depth discussions on deepening bilateral scientific and technological cooperation in the dairy sector, expanding joint research areas, and strengthening collaborative talent cultivation. Professor Frank Monahan presented an overview of UCD's disciplinary development, research priorities, and international collaboration in agriculture and food science. Mr. Dong Yiwei introduced CAAS's progress in international student training and joint degree programs. Both parties exchanged views on future directions for cooperation.

The meeting noted that over the past decade since its establishment, the Center, supported by national key R&D programs and the CAAS Innovation Project, has played a significant demonstrative and driving role in dairy science research, technology extension, and joint talent training. It has become a core platform for implementing the overall China-Ireland agricultural cooperation strategy, promoting technical exchanges and collaboration between the two countries' research institutions, and facilitating linkages with dairy enterprises. Both sides agreed to further deepen research collaboration and personnel exchanges in the dairy sector, pushing bilateral scientific and technological cooperation to deeper levels and broader fields.

Also attending the symposium were the heads of the Science and Technology Management Office and the Graduate Student Affairs Office of IAS, as well as key research staff from relevant innovation teams.
