On March 5th, Mr. Rasmus Berg Larsen, the Food and Agriculture Sector Counselor of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Denmark in China, led a delegation to visit IAS. Deputy Director Zhou Zhengkui of IAS attended the meeting and delivered a speech.
During the visit, Mr. Larsen toured the institute's cultural exhibition hall to gain insight into the research areas and development status. They also visited the Pig Genetic Breeding Team and the Livestock Nutrition and Regulation Team to gain a detailed understanding of the teams' research progress. Mr. Larsen expressed his deep impression of the research achievements of the institute and his anticipation for future cooperation between the two parties.
Subsequently, Mr. Larsen engaged in discussions with Chinese experts on the implementation of the third phase of SSC in the fields of “Food and agriculture resource efficiency and food loss " between China and Denmark. The main tasks for the first half of 2024 were identified, and plans for project implementation were discussed and formulated.
Mr. Zhou Zhengkui extended a warm welcome to Mr. Larsen and his delegation, highlighting Denmark as one of the earliest European countries to establish a comprehensive strategic partnership with China and an important cooperation partner of IAS in Europe. The successful signing of the project in 2023 marked further deepening of cooperation in the field of animal husbandry between the two sides. Both IAS and Danish Veterinary and Food Administration have well-equipped teams to support project execution, and it is believed that fruitful cooperation results will be achieved in the future. Furthermore, he expressed hope that both sides would seize this opportunity to continuously strengthen cooperation in scientific research, technical exchange, and talent cultivation, thereby promoting innovation in animal husbandry and veterinary science in both countries.
