On April 25th, a 24-member delegation, consisting of representatives from leading livestock farming enterprises in Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan visited the Institute of Animal Science of CAAS.

Professor Zhao Feng, Chief Scientist of Scientific and Technological Innovation Team for Chicken Nutrition and Metabolism, warmly welcomed the delegation, and presented a report entitled "Research and development of industrialized evaluation technology for feed nutritive value". In the report, Professor Zhao Feng reviewed the lasted progress in feed evaluation technologies, development of simulated digestion system (SDS) for monogastric animal and experiences of improving cost effectiveness in livestock farming industry in China. He pointed out that a unified metric system is key to succeed in evaluating the nutritive values of feed ingredients and SDS has been invented for that purpose. Up to date, the self-developed SDS-III has been applied in 84 livestock farming enterprises (including 24 listed enterprises) and research institutes, providing a key tool for feed and livestock farming industry.

Representatives of the three countries highly acknowledged the team's achievements in feed evaluation. They visited the laboratory and deepened the understanding of the instrumental structure and operation of SDS-III. Delegation members expressed the hope to strengthen communication with the Institute of Animal Science of CAAS, and to establish a cooperative relationship as soon as possible.
